PREVENTIVE CARE

surrey dentist
  • The dental exam is critical to your ongoing oral health and only your dentist can perform this.

The exam consists, in part, of the dentist looking inside your mouth. In the past, you may not have ever realized an exam was taking place. Perhaps you thought the dentist was checking the work the hygienist had just completed.

Not so. The dentist actually looks in your mouth for things that can affect your oral and your overall health. Many of these are things you can't see on your own, but that a dentist is trained to detect.

  • Every day, your enamel (the protective outer layer of your tooth) gains and loses minerals. You lose minerals when acids — formed from bacteria, plaque and sugars in your mouth — attack your enamel. (This process is demineralization.) You gain minerals — like fluoride, calcium and phosphate — when you consume food and water that contain these minerals. (This process is remineralization.)

Tooth decay is a result of too much demineralization without enough remineralization.

Dental fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making your enamel more resistant to acid attacks. It also reverses early decay.

  • Dental imaging offers a powerful way for dentists to properly diagnose and treat a variety of tooth and gum conditions. Since safety is a priority, our office chooses to use the latest technology to protect our patients. We offer digital dental x-rays as an alternative to the traditional methods that were previously used to view details about dental health.

  • Dental cleanings are essential for maintaining optimal oral health and function. During these visits, a dental hygienist will clean, polish and floss your teeth to remove hardened plaque, tartar and bacteria. When combined with diligent brushing and flossing at home, dental cleanings help achieve and maintain healthy teeth and gums.

RESTORATIVE CARE

  • Dental fillings are an important part of overall oral health as they protect against decay and infection. When a tooth has a cavity, the bacteria in the mouth can enter through the opening and cause an infection or decay. The filling material will prevent any bacteria from entering and causing damage to your teeth

  • A dental crown replicates the top portion of your tooth. It protects the tooth by covering its complete structure above the gum line. Whether your tooth suffers damage, cosmetic issue or infection, a dental crown can restore the tooth's function and beauty.

  • Dental implants are surgically placed in your jawbone and serve as the roots of missing teeth. Because the titanium in the implants fuses with your jawbone, the implants won't slip, make noise or cause bone damage like fixed bridgework or dentures might. And the materials can't decay like your own teeth.

  • Once you arrive at our dental office for tooth extraction, our dentist will administer a local anesthetic near the infected tooth to fully numb the area. Getting the shot of the anesthetic is usually the most “pain” you will feel throughout this procedure. Once the tooth is extracted, a thick piece of gauze will be provided to bite down on to stop any bleeding at the socket. Post extraction, you will also likely receive antibiotics to prevent any infections at the site and painkillers to reduce the pain as your mouth heals.

  • There are many clinical reasons for needing root canal treatment, but there are also countless practical reasons why saving the natural tooth is a wise choice. Endodontic treatment helps you maintain your natural smile, continue eating the foods you love and limits the need for ongoing dental work. With proper care, most teeth that have had root canal treatment can last a lifetime.

  • Professional whitening is among the most popular and efficient cosmetic dental procedures for a brighter smile. But before you start your teeth-brightening adventure, you must know your options and factors that can affect the results.  Book a consultation with us today.

  • Veneers are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of teeth, enhancing their appearance by correcting discoloration, chips, gaps, and misalignment. Made from porcelain or composite resin, veneers provide a natural, long-lasting smile transformation with minimal tooth alteration.

  • Invisalign is a modern treatment in orthodontics that uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners to gradually move your teeth into their desired positions. Unlike traditional metal braces, which use brackets and wires, Invisalign aligners are made of smooth, virtually invisible plastic material.

  • Botox® is a non-surgical cosmetic and therapeutic treatment that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also providing relief for conditions such as TMJ disorders, teeth grinding, and chronic migraines. The procedure involves injecting small amounts of botulinum toxin into targeted muscles to relax them, resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance or pain relief.

SURGICAL DENTISTRY

  • Bone grafting is a specialized procedure used to restore or enhance bone volume in areas where bone loss has occurred due to injury, disease, or tooth extraction. This treatment is commonly performed in preparation for dental implants or to support overall oral health.

  • Wisdom tooth extraction is a common oral surgery procedure to remove one or more third molars (wisdom teeth) that may be impacted, causing pain, infection, or misalignment of other teeth. Our expert team ensures a smooth and comfortable experience with advanced techniques and sedation options.

  • Wisdom tooth socket preservation is a procedure performed after wisdom tooth extraction to maintain bone structure and prevent future complications. By placing a bone graft or special material in the empty socket, this treatment helps preserve the jawbone, reducing the risk of bone loss and ensuring better oral health.

  • Periodontal surgery is an advanced dental procedure designed to treat severe gum disease (periodontitis) and restore gum health. It helps remove bacteria, reduce gum pockets, and regenerate lost bone and tissue, preventing further damage to teeth and gums. This procedure is essential for patients with advanced gum disease who have not responded to non-surgical treatments.

Dental Crowns

A Dental Implant is a titanium post (like a tooth root) surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows the dental implant specialist to fix a crown, thereby providing the appearance of a natural tooth. Implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth and offer the most realistic, long-lasting solution for the restoration of your smile.

Implant: A screw-like titanium post that serves as the root of the new tooth. This part is implanted into the jawbone.

Abutment: A connector, placed on top of the dental implant, to hold and support the crown.

Crown: The visible part of the tooth, usually made of ceramic or porcelain, designed to look like a natural tooth.

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry has many benefits like:

  • It can make dental procedures more comfortable as patients won't be feeling pain or discomfort.

  • The calming effects resulting from sedatives helps reduce anxiety and fear in patients regarding dental visits.

  • When patients are relaxed and comfortable during complex procedures because of sedation dentistry, it really brings down the time of the procedure, makes the overall process easy and effective for all parties involved and supports better results
